In princípio fuérunt verba mea

"An educated right wing opinion might be an interesting perspective"

The title of my introductory post is not some hubristic, grandiose allusion to the Gospel according to St. John's opening phrase, but a reference to the fact that my "social commentary" and "observational musings" have so moved a number of my nearest and dearest to encourage me to write a blog. My opening quote was offered by one of the aforementioned 'nearest and dearest ' in response to the suggestion that I may very well take up the idea.

Now I don't know what this will become, nor the direction in which I shall be taken by it, (or even it by me), but I'm sure I'll have a good crack writing it.

What is it? Why write it?
It is what it is: a blog written by a private citizen and subject to the British Crown as worn by HM Queen Elizabeth II, now gloriously reigning, and her successors. Social commentary, observations, musings and reactions to current affairs (both domestic and foreign), personal experiences and interactions with members of the British public - all opinions expressed are my very own philosophical creations and in that respect I take full responsibility for making them, however I take no responsibility for any passing insult, offence, moral outrage, or cognitive discomfort experienced as a result of reading the blog: you don't have to read it.
There should be no surprise as to the tone or positions taken, as anyone who knows me can attest to the following credentials:
  •  Reasonably observant 'Traditonalist' Roman Catholic
  • Monarchist
  • Social Conservative, (somewhere in between the Neo-Conservative and Right-Wing Libertarian camps)
  • Advocate of "High Culture" and sceptic of anything bearing the prefix 'urban-'
  • Advocate of a French Créole cultural awareness - because there's more to the Caribbean than Jerk chicken, Reggae music and Rastafarianism (though don't get me wrong...I know Jamaica do there bit for the Caribbean! - some of my best friends are Jamaican!)
  • Francophile, Americosceptic, Eurocautios, Telegraph reader
  • Generally opinionated chap in the tweed flat cap and Barbour quilted jacket ranting in the corner drinking a pint of ale or a glass of red wine

This is not to say this will be a platform for beautifully eloquent and articulate bigotry, I'm just giving anyone that isn't familiar with my particular charm an 'heads up' - can't say you weren't warned.

And with that said... I'm going to make a cup of tea, watch Al-Jazeera (Eng), BBC 24 and muse...
